I was honored to meet Fess Parker in Sikeston Missouri while passing through the town on my way to Texas in the early 70s. He happened to be staying in the same motel as my family and I. He was leaving his room to star in a rodeo with top billing that evening when ran into him. He was tall, kind, and had a heart of gold. I asked for an autograph and he was more than happy to give me one. During the time he was signing the paper he happened to drop his famous coonskin cap, which I am sure now that he did with all of his fans so they might hold the cap. Anyway it was a pleasant encounter and I still have his autograph. May you now rest in peace Fess. You entertained countless fans and I thank you.
